Article by Paul Easton

Coffee direct from the roaster, or coffee grower, is really the way to enjoy your next cup of coffee. It is impossible to really know what coffee’s true taste is if you are constantly buying the already ground coffee which has been sitting in cans, on shelves, for weeks or even months.

The joy of coffee is not just the rush from the caffeine, but in the partaking of the aroma, the rich color, the taste of the first sip, and the pleasure from it. Drinking coffee is an experience much like drinking fine wine or smoking a truly good cigar.

Getting coffee direct from the roaster ensures the maximum of flavor and freshness. Coffee is at the ultimate of flavor immediately after it is roasted.

When coffee is roasted they are then in a race against time as they slowly, but surely, begin to lose its fresh taste. If you really enjoy your coffee then this is the time when you want to buy it.

Enjoying Your Coffee The Right Way

Coffee is an art. There is a right, and a wrong, way to brew the perfect cup of coffee. If you’re willing to go out and buy good coffee, then you should prepare it the right way.

First off, don’t buy already ground coffee. Coffee direct from the roasters should always be in bean form. The freshness and flavor are still there.

Once the air hits them, it begins to diminish the quality, and over a short period of time coffee loses it’s boldness.

When grinding your coffee beans make sure that you are grinding the exact amount you will be using. Any extra is really useless as it will lose the aroma and flavor quickly.

Sure, it will still taste like coffee, but not the way coffee should be. Spoon the coffee into your brewer of choice and let it brew.

Brewing coffee is also something you want to take into consideration with your coffee direct beans. Some machines get too hot and burn your coffee making it a waste.

High end machines, while great, fast, and keep coffee at a good temperature, also have a high price tag. You can easily spend up to 0 to 0 on a high quality coffee machine.

One of the simplest, and cheapest, ways to brew fresh ground coffee beans is with a coffee press. A coffee press is simple a jar with a screen on the top, a plunger and a tube.

You simply place the coffee on the bottom of the jar, add hot water, let it brew for 4 minutes, and plunge the great tasting coffee right into your cup.

Coffee direct from the roaster should also be bought in smaller quantities. As stated already, coffee begins to lose it’s flavor through time.

Instead of having a large can of coffee that will take you three to four weeks to go through, buy small 8 oz. packages of beans directly from the roaster.

Many online companies that sell directly from roasters make small packages available so it is quite easy to get a week’s supply of fresh coffee beans.

Since time is of the essence, then spending some time researching for a direct seller near you will reap tremendous rewards. Most online coffee direct sellers are located in places where UPS can deliver your coffee the next day ensuring you of great coffee every time you order it.

If you live near a farmer, or roaster, then buying it yourself will also save delivery time and you have a steady supply of fresh, flavorful coffee within driving distance of your home.

Buying coffee direct from roasters or growers is a great way to truly enjoy coffee the way it should be.

The Delicious Story of Maui Coffee

Do you get excited when you smell a good cup of coffee? Then follow your nose to Maui for some of the world’s best coffee!

Coffee connoisseurs the world over cherish the distinctive flavor and overwhelming aroma of Hawaiian coffees. Hawaiian coffees are truly unique, not only in quality and flavor, but they are also the only coffees grown and produced in the United States.

Maui coffee has it’s own special place in the Hawaii coffee industry and if your a coffee lover, you’ll be glad to know there are some great coffee plantations to explore on Maui and a great cup of Maui coffee around every corner. No matter what flavor you like or what type of blend you seek. Maui has something you will like in the way of coffee.

Just because coffee grows on trees doesn’t mean that gourmet coffee is easy to make. Freshly picked coffee cherries are processed in many stages, using modern technology and decades of experience to turn the colorful berries into ready-to-roast beans. When it comes to completing the process in the best way possible, Maui steals the show.

History

Coffee was first introduced to the Islands by Chief Boki, the Governor of Oahu, in 1825. He acquired coffee plants in Rio de Janeiro while aboard a British warship, the H.M.S. Blonde. These first coffee plants were planted in Manoa Valley, on Oahu, where they flourished. From this original planting, coffee trees were introduced to locations around the Islands, including Maui and the now famous Kona Coast.

Coffee on Maui

When Pioneer Mill diversified its sugar crop in 1988, it began field trials to test many coffee varieties under West Maui growing conditions. Four produced superior results: Red Catuai, Yellow Caturra, Typica and Mokka. The first recognized Maui coffee farm was born.

Today, there are hundreds of acres of mature coffee trees on the slopes just above world famous Ka’anapali beach. Saplings are grown in an on-site nursery from Ka’anapali coffee seeds, and planted in hedgerows with sudax, a tall grass that acts as a temporary windbreak until the trees are full-size.

Maui’s Upcountry is known to be the island’s bread basket. The area’s climate is well suited for growing a variety of fruit, vegetables and flowers. Over the last decade, there have been a number of Upcountry agribusinesses that include some fabulous coffee farms.

Why is Hawaiian coffee so good?

Though coffee is not native to the Hawaiian Islands, the climate and topography of the Islands offers some of the most ideal growing conditions in the world – thus producing some of the best coffee in the world

The coffee tree needs six conditions to thrive: rich soil, proper elevation (between 500 and 3000 feet is ideal), sunshine, cloud cover, rain and a moderate slope for proper drainage of roots. While decent coffee can be produced in climates which offer just a few of these conditions, the climate in Hawaiian offers all six elements. This perfect blend of conditions provides coffee trees with the ideal environment, and allows Hawaii to produce some of the richest coffee in the world.

The Harvest

The growing season in Hawaii begins in January and ends in June. Coffee growers watch expectantly for coffee blossoms to appear on the trees after rains early in the season, and these flowers eventually turn into coffee cherries. Much like the grapes destined for fine wines, coffee cherries are allowed to ripen on the tree, under the close watch of the farmers. When they are bright red and ripe, each coffee cherry is harvested individually.

Now that you are all caught up on your Maui coffee facts, it is time to grab a cup. What kind? Try them all, experience their variety and complexity and enjoy the magic of Aloha that comes into your life with everything that has its roots here in Hawaii.

Article by Michelle Long

Square coffee table is crucial for every family. However some people tend to own one but some refuse to. Square coffee table is made by wood normally and they are most of them are differentiating by the materials of their table top. Some square coffee tables are made by quality wood like oak and pine wood whereas some are made by low quality wood. Some square wood coffee table and square glass coffee table became the point of decoration for company. The reason they become the point of decoration is because of square coffee table looks elegance and presentable.

Square coffee table suitable for any room typeSquare coffee table is a classic type of coffee table. Most of the square coffee tables in the market are constructed based on the standard length and width for any living room. Square coffee table especially square glass coffee table always becomes the hottest furniture in any furniture store. If you own a square shape living room like condominium, you can always go for smaller square coffee table. Same if you own a larger living room, you can always g for a large square coffee table. As long as you won’t feel the square coffee table will take away your spaces off.

Square coffee table is presentable and good in lookingAs I mentioned earlier, square coffee table looks cool and beautiful. No matter they are large square coffee table or square wood coffee table; they are much more presentable than any other coffee table type. In many countries square coffee table is a sign of culture and custom. For example like in Japan, square coffee table especially square wood coffee table used to present their tea art. They call that popular type of square coffee table as Kimono type of square coffee tables. In France for example, square coffee table is the culture of the place. No matter where you go in France, you will find different types of square coffee table. Whereas in Asia countries like Malaysia, the demand for square coffee tables also increase every year as coffee culture becoming another new life style for the people over there.

Square coffee tables are portableBeside large square coffee table, anyone can carry square coffee table. This is because of square coffee table is really light and handy, even a lady also can carry it without help. The portability of the square coffee table have made this coffee table more value as people will not be worried how to carry them back to home. Some people will use square coffee table to become their study table. Whereas they are also people that use square coffee table as their home office table. As long as you don’t serve any heavy food on square coffee table, I think that should be fine.

Furniture designers have developed more and more version of square coffee tables everyday and we get more and more option for the table. However, square coffee table did serve as a place where we built our friendship and better relationship with our friend and family members. With a cup of cappuccino on hand, you can have a never stop topic with your friend throughout the day, why not?

Before selecting your electric coffee makers, take a minute to check the different types of coffee brewing systems. In most cases, drop style coffee makers distribute water uniformly over ground beans to produce coffee with dramatic flavor. Vacuum-style coffee maker : Vaccum type coffee makers have a vintage in feel, using two stacked glass boxes. Some types include modern technology, such as a timer. Pod coffee maker : Ponder a new, convenient pod coffee machine that forces hot water thru a pod of ground coffee beans at high pressure. Typically you get a single helping of coffee in each pod and each cup takes only a short while to brew. Percolator : Make coffee the old-fashioned way with a percolator. Many percolatorsare programmable, cordless, or offer other helpful features. Stovetop coffee maker : Consider a stove top model coffee maker to brew for yourself or simply 2 coffee drinkers. Many would consider the style and shape more classy. French press : A French press allows coffee and water to steep together in the same container. Then a press filters the grounds from the coffee. The French press is a quick way to make a cup or two of fresh hot coffee. decide on the right electric coffee maker you’ll get more pleasure and satisfaction from your electric coffee maker by considering which features matter most to you before buying. Glass carafes : Glass carafes, generally used in electric coffee makers, make it straightforward to see when coffee is prepared or running low. A hot plate or other heating unit the coffee warm. Some models come with adjustable heating units so you can stipulate the temperature of your brew. Thermal carafes : Thermal carafes keep your java hotter longer without burning your coffee. They do not use a burner, which makes them conveyable. twin brewing : A twin brewing station, also called a double-pot system, permits you to make two pots of coffee immediately. It makes a good option for folk who want to make regular and decaf or two different types of coffee concurrently. Coffee pot size : keep in mind how many cups you wish to brew. If you expect to brew little batches, look for flavor-enhancing features for small pots or pod coffee makers. Single-serve coffee makers are available, as are 4-cup, 5-cup, 8-cup, 10-cup, and 12-cup models. built in grinder : Consider the coffee you’ll use. Buy an electric coffee maker with an inbuilt grinder if you intend to buy fresh coffee beans and grind them with each pot. Programmable : choose a programmable coffee machine if you like the concept of having your coffee ready when you wake up.

There are many types of home use coffee makers available from piston coffee machines, fully automatic coffee makers, bean to cup coffee machines and now even outdoor coffee machines.

The easiest method for choosing the correct coffee maker for you is to look at your lifestyle, the type of coffee you want and be honest about how in depth and technical you wish your coffee maker to be, some coffee machines can be difficult to master!

It is also a good idea to know what you want to spend, the cost of the various coffee machines varies significantly from the small portable coffee machines – which make great gifts – to the impressive £1000 plus fully automatic espresso makers offered by the likes of Gaggia espresso machines which are suitable for use in busy coffee houses, an unlikely present even from the most flamboyant.

It is a good idea to read the reviews and try to understand the capacity of the home use coffee maker prior to buying one. Here are a few hints, tips and nods towards certain machines.

Steam-driven machines work by pushing water through the coffee using steam or steam pressure. The first coffee machines were steam types, produced when a boiler was piped to four group heads so that multiple types of coffee could be made at the same time. The same design is still used today in the cheapest domestic home use coffee makers, as it does not need to contain moving parts. Many low-cost steam-driven machines are sold in combination with a drip-coffee machine.

Piston-driven coffee machines or lever driven machines were developed in Italy in 1945 by Achille Gaggia, founder of Gaggia espresso makers. The design normally uses a lever, pumped by the user, to pressurize hot water and send it through the coffee. The act of producing a shot of espresso is generally called pulling a shot, because these lever-style espresso makers required pulling a long handle to produce a shot

There are two types of lever machines; manual piston and spring piston. With the manual piston, the user directly pushes the water through the ground coffee. In the spring piston design, the user works to tension a spring, which then delivers the pressure for the espresso (usually 8 to 10 bar).

Pump-driven espresso machines are a refinement of the piston coffee machine, which is the most popular model in commercial coffee shops. Instead of using manual force, a motor-driven pump provides the force needed for espresso brewing. DeLonghi coffee machines are themarket leaders for this type of coffee maker.

Commercial coffee machines or some high spec home coffee machines are often attached directly to the plumbing on the site; lower-end home coffee machines have built-in water reservoirs.

Many home pump coffee machines typically use a single chamber both for boiling water up to brewing temperature, and to boil water for steamed milk. As the temperature for making espresso is normally less than the temperature for creating steam, the machine needs time to make the transition from one mode to the other. Water for brewing can pass through a heat exchanger (taking some heat from the steam, without rising to the same temperature). In some espresso machines, for coffee shops or home use, water for brewing is boiled in a separate chamber.

Coffee makers which contain the addition of pumps, sensors, valves, and grinders to automate the brewing process generally are called automatic.

Semi-automatic coffee machines are automatic as water is delivered by a pump, rather than manual force and the remaining brew pressure in the basket is dissipated with a three way valve.

Automatic coffee machines add a flowmeter inline with the grouphead. When the pre-programmed amount of water has flowed through the flowmeter, the pump is automatically switched off and brew pressure let out through a three way solenoid valve.

Super-automatic machines operate by automatically grinding the coffee beans, tamping it, and extracting; all any user need do is fill the bean hopper, and if the machine is not plumbed in a water line, add water to a reservoir. Additionally, super automatic models contain an automated milk frothing and dispensing feature.

Recently air-pressure driven portable espresso makers have come onto the market. A Handpresso is a portable coffee machine. It works by pumping air at very high pressure (16 bar) into a storage chamber. Boiling water is then poured into a small reservoir, which can contain hot water for one cup of espresso coffee. Ground coffee is inserted on top of the water reservoir and a portafilter is attached on the top of the water container. The coffee maker is now turned upside down and the pressure from the intermediate chamber is released into the water reservoir. The high pressure pushes the water through the coffee pod and into a cup, which should be positioned underneath the coffee machine. When the desired amount of espresso coffee is brewed, the pressure is released from the water reservoir and the infusion process ends.

Coffee Service Options VendingA coffee dispenser machine next to a water dispenserSome companies, with high traffic of visitors and employees, opt to install a coffee dispenser (vending machine) as their coffee service. Typically these machines give the user the choice of various types of coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Any money collected is usually kept by the employer to offset the cost of the maintenance contract and for the purchase of the instant coffee used by the machine. However, sometimes companies make the coffee from such machines free. Unfortunately, the coffee dispensed by these machines is of very low quality. Electric Coffee MakerAnother option is to use an automatic espresso or drip coffee maker which grinds the coffee beans and dispenses the coffee into a cup. These machines do not charge per cup, but often provide a bypass slot where the employee can add their own coffee beans. By providing low quality beans, employees can be encouraged to provide their own beans. The cost of the maintenance contract still falls on the employer, however it is about the same as the cost of the machine per year. “Frac pacs”An increasingly popular preparation offered by coffee service providers is known as a frac pac. This is ground coffee in a self-contained packet, enveloped by a filter. This allows a conventional drip coffee maker to be used, but without the mess of cleaning out the old grounds and without the requirement to measure out the right amount of coffee. The user only needs remove the old pack and to place the new pack into their coffee machine. The downside of such a service is quality of the coffee. Unless canned, coffee needs to be brewed within the first week of roasting and within four hours of grinding for the best quality. Since local roasters will generally not have a filter enveloping machine, these packs are shipped great distances and may be weeks old before they even arrive at the office. Onsite Espresso BarsSome companies now provide on their premises full espresso bars where employees or contractors provide a full range of espresso drinks, free of charge or at company-subsidized prices.v d eCoffeeProduction by countryBrazil Colombia Costa Rica Ecuador El Salvador Ethiopia Guatemala Haiti India Indonesia Jamaica Kenya Papua New Guinea Philippines USA VietnamCoffee topicsHistory of coffee Economics of coffee Coffee and health Coffee and the environmentSpecies and varietiesList of varieties Coffea arabica: Kenya AA, Kona, Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffea canephora (Coffea robusta): Kopi Luwak Coffea liberica: Kape Barako Single-originMajor chemicals in coffeeCafestol Caffeic acid CaffeineCoffee processingCoffee roasting Decaffeination Home roasting coffeeCoffee preparationCoffeemaker Coffee percolator Espresso (lungo, ristretto) Espresso machine Drip brew French press Turkish coffee Vacuum coffee maker Instant coffee Chemex Moka pot AeroPress Presso KnockboxPopular coffee beveragesAffogato Americano Bicerin C ph s Caf au lait Caf con leche Caf Cubano Cafe mocha Caff corretto Caff macchiato Cappuccino Carajillo Coffee milk Cortado Espresso Flat white Frappuccino Galo Greek frapp coffee Iced coffee Indian filter coffee Ipoh white coffee Irish coffee Latte Latte macchiato Liqueur coffee Long black Red eye RistrettoCoffee substitutesBarley tea Barleycup Caro Chicory Dandelion coffee Pero Postum Roasted grain beverageCoffee and lifestyleBarista Caf Caff Caff sospeso Coffee break Coffee ceremony Coffee culture Coffee cupping Coffee Palace Coffeehouse Fika Kopi tiam List of coffeehouse chains Viennese caf Categories: Coffee preparationHidden categories: Orphaned articles from March 2008 | All orphaned articles | Articles lacking sources from March 2008 | All articles lacking sources | All articles with unsourced statements | Articles with unsourced statements from February 2007
